PENGARUH JUMLAH PENDUDUK TERHADAP TIMBULAN SAMPAH DI KOTA GORONTALO TAHUN 2020-2024

This study aims to analyze the effect of population size on waste generation volume in Gorontalo City during the 2020–2024 period. Rapid population growth in Gorontalo City directly impacts environmental quality, particularly through the escalation of waste generated from household consumption and economic activities. This situation makes waste management an urgent priority. The analytical approach applied is simple linear regression, processed using SPSS software. The research data sources are secondary, drawn from the publication Gorontalo City in Figures and the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN). The research findings reveal that every 1 soul increase in population triggers a 0,198 tons/year increase in waste generation. This is supported by a positive regression coefficient, a significance value of 0.029 < 0.05, and a calculated t-value of 3.947, which exceeds the critical t-value of 1.895. Thus, it can be concluded that an increase in population has a significant effect on the surge in waste generation in Gorontalo City.
