Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the performance of natural lighting in the Basic Studio 2 Lecture Hall at Gorontalo State University. The method used was a quantitative descriptive approach based on in-room illuminance simulations using DIALux software and the DF formula (Eᵢ/Eₒ × 100%) as an operational indicator. Measurements were taken with a lux meter at 31 points for 20 minutes from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, yielding 25 pairs of illuminance data. The analysis focused on indoor illuminance, the daylight factor (DF), and compliance with SNI standards. The results showed that indoor illuminance ranged from 31.21 to 3,843.00 lux with an average of 1,577.93 lux, while average outdoor illuminance was 39.56 klux. DF values ranged from 1.58% to 5.72% with an average of 3.99% and a correlation coefficient of 0.94. Based on SNI 6197:2020, the room met the 350-lux threshold at 23 points and the 750-lux threshold at 18 points. The high indoor–outdoor correlation indicates that natural lighting is significantly influenced by outdoor conditions. Overall, the room remains adequate for classroom functions during most of its usage time, although light distribution is not yet fully uniform.
