Abstract

Road infrastructure plays a vital role in supporting mobility and regional economic activities. This study aims to identify pavement distress types and analyze the dominant factors causing pavement deterioration on Kasmat Lahay Road, Gorontalo Regency. The Road Condition Index (RCI) method was employed through visual field surveys along a 1,200 m road section divided into 12 observation segments, supported by a two-day traffic volume survey. The results revealed various pavement distresses, including potholes, weathering and raveling, patching, edge breaks, depressions, shoving, hairline cracking, and bleeding. RCI values ranged from 3.7 to 8.7, with the road condition predominantly classified as fair (34%). The analysis indicated that inadequate drainage was the primary factor contributing to pavement deterioration, while traffic volume acted as a supporting factor. Therefore, drainage improvement and periodic maintenance are essential to extend pavement service life.
